PPPM
Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia (PPPM, Girl Guides Malaysia) is the national Guiding organization of Malaysia. It serves 61,718 members (as of 2003). Founded in 1916, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1960.
History
The Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (GGAM) was officially founded in 1917, but registered in Calcutta, India with its administration headquarters located in Singapore until 1956 (before independence). The current headquarters is located in Wisma Pandu Puteri, Jalan Pantai Baharu, Kuala Lumpur since 1957.
GGAM is a 'Full Member' of the 'World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts" (WAGGGS) since 1957. Therefore, every members of GGAM share the similar opportunities to expand their professionalism by participating in girl guiding programmes such as conferences, seminars, workshops, assemblies, camps or courses in state, national, region or international levels.
GGAM is also part of the coalition of 'National Council of Womens Organisation' (NCWO) & 'Malaysian Youth Council' (MYC). GGAM was put under the administration of the Ministry of Youth & Sports eventhough 90% of its members consists of students, lecturers & teachers from schools, colleges & universities. GGAM maintained its close ties with the Ministry of Education & the introduction of Co-Curicular Policy of the Education Ministry has further strengthen the bonds where Girl Guiding has became one of the options that students & academic staff can choose as their uniformed society in their own institution.
GGAM provides Guding Programmes with pattern of informal education. The execution of this informal programme emphasised on flexible methods, interesting & active approaches to fulfil the needs & demands of Malaysian female youths & women alike.

1917 |
Ms.Gertrude Ballard founded the first Girl Guides group in Kuala Lumpur Methodist Girls School assisted by three assitant leaders with the rank of Lieutenants; Ms.Ford, Ms.King & Ms.Pykett. The group was registered in the Girl Guide HQ in India & it was supervised by the YWCA. Lady Ella Guillemard was then elected as Chief & Mrs.Cavendish was elected as the Coordinating Commissioner for Malaya. |
| 1919 | Girl Guides was founded in Penang. |
| 1920 | The first Brownie Pack was established in Kuala Lumpur Girls School. |
| 1921 | Girl Guides was founded in Perak. |
| 1923 | Girl Guides Cadettes was formed in Penang. |
| 1924 | Girl Guides was founded in Negeri Sembilan. |

| 1928 | Girl guiding has received the attention of the government. The Strait Settlements & the Federal government has given the official acknowledgement in the form of support & cooperation hence providing yearly funds with the sum of RM2K. |
| 1932 | Girl Guides was founded in Johor & Kedah. The two became the first Girl Guide group to be conducted fully in Malay. |
| 1934 | Chief of Scouts, B.P & wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell made an official visit to Malaya. |
| 1937-1946 | Girl guiding in Malaya was disrupted by World War II (WWII), when the Malayan federal administrative was taken over by the Japanese occupier. |
| 1947 | Girl Guides was re-established again after the war with the effort to acquire more female youths to join the movement. The movement was then officially launched in all states in the Malayan Federation. In the same year, a few local Girl Guide leaders has participated in an international conference for the first time. |
| 1950's | Girl guiding was once again disrupted by the state of emergency announced by the federal government due to the Communist insurgency. The development has been rapid but progressing slow. |
| 1957 | Girl Guides Association of Malaya (GGAM) was accepted as an official member of WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts. A new amendment of the Girl Guides constitution was introduced & enforced to fulfil to the current aspiration & needs of the newly independent nation. |
| 1960 | GGAM was accepted as a Tenderfoot Member in WAGGGS during the 17th World Conference held in Athens, Greece. |
| 1962 | In December, GGAM was given the honour to host & organise the World Conference of Girl Guiding Leaders in Kuala Lumpur. |
| 1964 | Dame Leslie Whateley, the Director of the World Bureau has acknowledged GGAM as a formation of the Girl Guide Association of Sabah, Girl Guide Association of Sarawak, Girl Guide Association of Singapore & the Federated States of Malaya prior to the formation of Malaysia in 1963. |
| 1967 | GGAM celebrated its 50th Golden Jubilee with a national camp. |
| 1969 | The GGAM HQ opening was officiated by HRH Tuanku Intan Zaharah Ibni Almarhum Tengku Seri Setia Raja Terengganu. |

| 1986 | The administration of Girl Guides Association of Selangor was then splitted to two divisions prior to the bestowment of Kuala Lumpur as a Federal Territory. |
| 1987-1996 |

| 1997 | GGAM celebrated its 80th anniversary baring the theme; 'The Spirit of Peace & Harmony'. |
| 1998 | In conjunction with the Commonwealth Games (SUKOM), GGAM has organised a 'Commonwealth Camp'. |
| 1999 | GGAM launched its official website as a response to the vast development of ICT. |
| 2000 |

| 2001 | Integration Camp took place in Sekakap, Mersing, Johor on the 7-12 September participated by countries such as Maldives, South Korea & Pakistan. Asia Pacific Project was launched with the collaboration of GGAM & Fiji Girl Guide Association. |
| 2002 | Celebrated 85th anniversary with full glory. |
Program & Ideals
The association is divided in four section according to age:
- Pandu Puteri Tunas (Brownie Guides) - ages 9 to 12
- Pandu Puteri Remaja (Junior Guides) - ages 13 to 15
- Pandu Puteri Renjer (Ranger Guides) - ages 16 to 18
- Pandu Puteri Kadet (Cadette Guides) - 18 above
- Pandu Puteri Siswi (Varsity Guides) - 18 above (tertiary institutions)
- Pandu Puteri Dewasa (Adult Guides) - 18 above (trained for youth leadership)

The Girl Guide emblem incorporates elements of the flag of Malaysia.
