Whilst “scouting” for pictures of the Boy Scout Memorial for the last post, we came across this picture of Lord Robert Baden-Powell (and wife Olave’s) gravestone. Note the circle with the dot inside; ostensibly this is the traditional Boy Scout trail sign for “I have gone home.”

More than 50,000 youngsters who want to become Girl Guides can’t join up, because there aren’t enough adults to run the groups. Volunteers are put off by lengthy criminal records checks, the Children’s Commissioner has said. They also worry that parents might sue them if there is an accident.
